Working alongside our Farm Production Manager, you'll play an important role in growing, maintaining, and harvesting our crops while helping keep our farm operations running smoothly throughout the season.

What you'll do

• Assist with planting, cultivating, maintaining, and harvesting crops.
• Support soil health monitoring and sustainable pest and weed management.
• Assist with irrigation system operation, maintenance, and repairs.
• Perform general farm maintenance, equipment care, and field preparation.
• Assist with seeding, transplanting, and other hands-on crop production tasks.
• Support post-harvest handling, sorting, and packaging of produce.
• Help maintain accurate records of crop yields and daily farm activities.
• Work collaboratively with the production team to ensure efficient farm operations.
• Assist with seasonal site setup and other farm duties as needed.

What we're looking for

• Previous farming, gardening, or agricultural experience is preferred.
• A genuine interest in crop production and sustainable growing practices.
• Physically fit and comfortable with demanding outdoor work.
• Ability to lift, bend, kneel, and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Reliable, hardworking, and able to take direction while working independently.
• Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
• Flexibility to work weekends and during busy seasonal periods.

This is a hands-on, physically demanding role for someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in helping grow fresh, local food from the ground up. Part time and full time opportunities available.

The Farm Production Manager at Local Roots Farm Market is responsible for overseeing all aspects of farm production, including crop planning, planting, maintenance, and harvesting. The ideal candidate will have strong agricultural expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to sustainable farming practices.

What you'll do

• With guidance, develop and implement crop production plans to maximize yield and quality.
• Oversee planting, cultivation, and harvesting operations.
• Manage farm staff, including training and scheduling.
• Monitor soil health and implement pest management strategies.
• Coordinate with the retail team to align production with market demand.
• Maintain records of crop yields, expenses, and other farm activities.
• Manage post-harvest handling, packaging and displaying produce
• Work closely with other departments to ensure alignment with business goals.

What we're looking for

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in farm management or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of sustainable farming practices.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead a team and work collaboratively.

Work Schedule & Compensation

Three days per week with commitment to work 2 weekend days every month. The schedule can be adjusted to reflect seasonal demands and weather conditions.
Seasonal position, February to October.
The wage for this position is commensurate with experience, skills, education and training.

Working alongside our Retail Manager, you'll help create an exceptional customer experience across our nursery, retail, and fresh produce areas. From sharing gardening advice to keeping our produce displays fresh and inviting, you'll play an important role in bringing the Local Roots experience to life.

What you'll do

• Provide excellent customer service and offer knowledgeable gardening and product advice.
• Assist customers with plant selection, fresh produce, and other retail offerings.
• Process sales transactions and operate our point-of-sale system.
• Maintain attractive plant, produce, and retail displays.
• Assist with the care and maintenance of nursery stock.
• Receive, organize, and restock inventory, including fresh produce and gardening supplies.
• Monitor produce quality, freshness, and presentation.
• Assist with hands-on production work, including seeding, transplanting, and plant preparation.
• Help with seasonal site setup, merchandising, and general site maintenance.
• Participate in seasonal events, promotions, and special projects.

What we're looking for

• Previous retail or customer service experience.
• A genuine passion for gardening and hands-on plant knowledge.
• Experience with plant care, seeding, and transplanting is strongly preferred.
• An interest in fresh produce, local food, and seasonal products.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, customer-focused attitude.

• Manage inventory, ordering, merchandising, and product quality.

• Work directly with ownership to improve operations and grow the business.
